I have a 2 tone coin that feels like it has been encased in plastic or resin. I'm sure it isn't a coin that has been circulated but I can't seem to find any info about it. The front has Sacagawea in a silver tone and the coin itself in a gold tone. The other side has the hands and scroll in silver tone and the coin in gold tone. Any ideas on this?

It looks plated, polished and pickled. I've seen coins like this offered for sale as collectable. They usually price them at $5 to $20, but they are really just damaged coins after they are processed. An interesting coin to find in circulation or while roll hunting, but not worth a premium. PMD

No real numismatic value. Worth a dollar or whatever added amount a person would buy it for. Not from the US mint in this condition. It has been plated and processed as a "collectible". Probably there's a "Hurry, there is a limited supply" advert in the back of a magazine or on some TV commercial or on an internet banner somewhere.
Maybe it came from the Danbury Mint?

In the category of colorized Kennedy halves or oversized Buffalo $50. look a-likes.

In my opinion, these items are bad for the coin collecting world. Once one needs to sell, they find out they have no added value except as much the next unsuspecting person will pay. A dealer will give you a dollar.

If you want something to carry around in your pocket for good luck, this might work, and then again may not.

Thanks for the info, it is definitely a stand out coin that I will use for 'heads or tails' issues! Hahaha
