I have been learning the difference between the brown, red/brown and the red.
This coin struck me differently because it has a bright red almost velvet coat, I am sure that has to due with the copper and the oxidation process.
Which just might be that, just considered an oxidation coin.
But just wondering if this is common which I am sure it might be. However, I haven't seen it this deeply pronounced. The reverse seems like a beauty to me, allows me to appreciate the design more.
Tell me what you guys think, please and thank you in advance.
In fact the oxidation just start. This brown is normal transformation of the cooper under UV and fast dry humidity. the black show the dirt on the surface of the coin, which if not restored, (like with BU) and in improper storage will be Verdi's which is a damage to the coin.
The coin may have been painted and since then the tops of the devices removed the color and now it is showing both colors on the coin. No premium other than being a Wheat cent.
