Not seeing errors. Agree, the darkened appearance is the result of exposure to environmental agents. I go through many rolls of dimes now and then and see dimes like this on occasion.
Staining on a coin is pretty permanent. It wear off on the raised devices, but the fields, it takes a lot longer, unless polished off. Then the raised devices get polished away. Not a polished die issue, but a polished coin issue.
