I did my first post a couple of days ago and the coin community really helped me out with my "grease" penny. I mentioned that I worked in a bank and got a few nice collectables. One of my jobs was rolling coins back in 1974. In a new bag of pennies from the mint I found these pennies. These jammed up the machine. I'm not sure what they are worth but I was pretty happy when I came across them.

You should get some pliers and flatten out those staples. They can scratch other coins if you stack them together..

That being said, very nice coins.

You had these since 1974? They are in great condition..

to the CCF!

These are off center strikes. The dated coin looks like it's about 45% and the other coin looks like it's 55-60% off center. Off center strikes sell for $5-$12 with the dated coin being worth more. Nice coins!

Id actually pay a little more for certain off center strikes that have the date showing, especially better dates, but probably on the 15 to 20 dollar range tops.

Older ones you can find , mainly from error dealers, modern ones since 2002 you don't find because with the horizontal striking presses if the planchet isn't in the collar it falls out of the press, also they incorporated additional riddler/sieves to weed out mis-strikes before they get to the bagging station.

EXCELLENT finds! These are called off center errors.

I got lucky about 20 years ago. During one of my frequent visits to my local shop my dealer showed a ziplock bag of errors he just took in hours before. The person that sold them also worked as a bank teller and collected them over time. Of course, I bought the whole bag because he simply doubled the money he paid her earlier....and I still got them for song.

Nice finds. I wonder what would be said if you sent a letter to the Mint about them.
