Looks to me like a normal 22-D that was hit by a punch tool to depress the mintmark.

Mine should be held apart from the opinions of the numismatists above. Mine is eligible just as a general opinion of tooling on metal. That mint mark looks harshly tooled to my eyes.

IMO someone was trying to create a 1922 Plain cent.

Maybe it was a misguided attempt to hammer down the D, and when he realized that wouldn't work, he quit. I guess we'll never really know...

Maybe it's not album worthy but I've got a Harris 1909-40 folder that I put overflow coins into that it would have a home in. This is my circulated, no coins will be turned away portion of my collection - although if you don't make the folder, you end up in a roll. |
