I wanted to say I found a double die obverse penny on this 1953 cent but the doubling is only on the 3. It looks real nice but is it machine doubled? I found another one just like it but its a 1953 D. I thought it was odd to find two similar errors in one day on coins from the same year. Thank you for your time and knowledge.
Yes, appears to be matter of Die Deterioration. Say, it that an emerging die crack on Lincoln's head--otherwise known as a cracked skull? May be just a linear hit. Close-in image of Lincoln's head above the ear-eye line?
