1979 Canadian Penny With Die Deterioration Errors

Rubenstein Valued Member Canada 127 Posts	Posted 03/18/2021 9:50 pm The numbers 979 and the leaf above the date are doubled and on the reverse, there's doubling around her face and right of her shoulder. Can't seem to get the close-up for the front to load. I'll have to take another later. plus some of the D is missing by the Queens head, and the indent on her temple. JohnWayne007 Pillar of the Community Canada 1186 Posts	Posted 03/18/2021 10:34 pm What you are seeing is Die Deterioration Doubling on the Reverse and Machine Doubling on the Obverse, not a doubled die. When looking online, a few sites list Canadian coins as "Double" which is Die Deterioration or Machine Doubling. The word "Double" and "Doubled" mean two different things, Doubled being genuine doubled die, and "Double" being machine or deterioration doubling. I was just looking at some ICCS graded coins and they have a 1955 DDR Canadian quarter listed as a "Double Die" and a 1953 Canadian quarter DDR listed as a "Double Date" and all I could say was wow, one of the many reasons I dont bother to grade my coins.
