I am not familiar with Mercury dimes and wondering if this is a known error or just a Grease Fill? What year would it be and what would you grade it?

I'm thinking grease as well. As for the year, your options are 1929 or 1939. I'm leaning toward the former based on the size of the upper loop. Compare it to examples of each date:

Grade: maybe VF30 or so? I'm still practicing.

Looks like a zero but that's not possible.

I don't think that's a Greaser . It's weird because whatever made that what looks like a gouge didn't touch the Y and designers initials yet it looks like it did cause the date to be an issue .

For sure it is a 1909. Mint made it to see what that coin would look like in the future.
Or got hit with something.
Or someone erased a number.
