It seems that the 2021 Washington Crossing the Delaware quarter will be a one-year design. If you were wondering about the status of the Congressional bill that was to honor a woman from every U.S. state and territory, here is what I found on Wikipedia (slightly abridged): From 2022 to 2025, the United States Mint will release a series of quarters featuring prominent women in American history, commemorating the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The mint may produce up to five designs each year for up to 20 total designs. One woman will be honored on the reverse of each coin, selected for "contributions to the United States in a wide spectrum of accomplishments and fields, including but not limited to suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and arts." The obverse will depict George Washington with a new design. The mint has not yet officially named the coin series but will select the first honorees in late 2021. The program was authorized by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 (Pub.L. 116-330, sponsored by Representatives Barbara Lee and Anthony Gonzalez. The original proposal was for 56 quarters, honoring one woman from each state and territory, but with a set of circulating coins intended to be released in 2026 for the United States Semiquincentennial, it was amended to be shorter. It replaced an alternative proposal of quarters featuring animals or endangered species. One of the five quarters in that set will also feature a woman. It will be followed in 2027-2030 with a series depicting youth sports.

This makes me feel like watching a football game with a four minute half-time.
2021 seems like a short break in the quarter action; take a deep breath and BOOM; another set begins.

The new designs for U.S. coins in the next decade gives the U.S. Mint opportunities to market new products and increase its revenue.

I really think these will be popular. I plan on picking up a few rolls along with the usual proof sets. Worst thing that can happen is I will need to spend a few quarters.

@BearlyHere. The US Mint is not selling rolls of the 2021 Washington Crossing the Delaware quarters. The best way to obtain (uncirculated) rolls is to visit your bank.

While the lack of a permanent standard design is frustrating, getting one at all is still neat, even as an interim gap filler. Additionally, the American Women Quarters intrigue me the more I think about em. It's nice that the Mint is a bit more creative with this approach, opting for a 4 year series with just 20 quarters, and above all else, not being restricted to a state or territory. Glad things are shaking up a bit, so I'll consider collecting this series, and of course the semi quincentennial is a must. Can't say the same about the youth sports series though, doesn't excite me at all.

I personally like the plan to change reverse designs on US coins. It makes coin collecting more fun. I remember years ago, design changes on quarters simply did not happen (much like on the Roosevelt dime). So it seemed that collectors were trying to find varieties (e.g., double mint marks, filled / clear mint marks, etc.) to bring excitement to the hobby. I'd like to see more design changes on other circulating US coins. I realize that we "recently" experienced changes with the Lincoln Cent and Jefferson nickel, but such changes are few and far between. Fortunately, we get to see changes with the Native American dollars and Innovation Dollars each year. An added benefit is that the US Mint can increase its revenue by creating more special products for collectors.

The 2021 CTD quarter could end up being everything we wished have always wished that the bicentennial quarters were.

Technically EVERY State and ATB Quarter has been a "one year only" type. I can't help but wonder if they will try and slip a living woman in on one of the designs. The legislation does not forbid it.

Quote: I can't help but wonder if they will try and slip a living woman in on one of the designs. Oh; PLEASE NO!! Seeing a Kardashian, Oprah, or any living politician would officially end the heralded hobby of coin collecting.
