I have given a talk on ethics at my coin club There are many subtleties in numismatic ethics that go beyond the PNG code, things that come up all the time. Some examples include: - If you are at a dealer's table and someone walks up and asks for something, do you say that you know this is available a few tables away for less? - If a person is trying to sell something at a show and is taking offers, can you make an offer as a person walking the floor of the show? - You see a VF-30/35 that you think is undergraded, do you crack it out and sell it as an XF? Should someone else's opinion be more valid than yours? - What about a coin slabbed as cleaned that you think doesn't look so bad. Crack out and cross-over? As a dealer it would only be in your best interest to follow the guidelines listed by PNG. Of which most should be common sense in the first place. Owning a non-numismatic type business myself, and from experience, one bad word wipes out 1000 positive. When it happens, recovering is extremely challenging not to mention frustrating. Not so much on the loyal customers, but absolutely on new ones if you hope to expand.
