I have not been able to find this anywhere, but this penny looks like the top left portion of the E is missing in Liberty. Please don't beat me up about the pictures this is the best I could do until I figure out how to attach a camera to my scope. I took several close-up shots with different lighting to capture the E. Any Thoughts?

Guessing this is just circulation damage or the result of a bag mark hit.

Contact mark. It is damage to the coin. Just a face value coin. (the angle your are lighting your coin is looking like a sunrise. That happens when the angle is too low. You light up the edges of the devices. Light needs to be over the coin closer to center.

I guess I just don't understand how the left edge of the E can be so straight with no appearance of gouge in or near the missing part of the E. It even looks that way under a stereoscope.

Coop I purposely placed the light source low to highlight the straightness of the left edge.

The prior pictures did not use an overhead light to prevent glare. I have since added a homemade filter to disperse the light and this is the best shot, I can muster right now.
