What you have is a developing Ridge Ring on the obverse of your coin which is the raised area around the obverse, just inside of the rim, where the letters are (IN GOD WE TRUST). This is consistent with a worn out and deteriorating die and you can see a lot of flow lines in the vicinity as well which are also prevelant with a worn out die. There is not any true doubling on your cent. Die Deterioration Doubling is what you are seeing on the devices. The "Gouch on face" of your coin is damage made from something after it was struck, not a mint error. It is simply Post Strike Damage or Post Mint Damage.

I meant to add: to CCF! You will find a lot of good info here.

Yeah,
Pretty much all 80s got nailed hard..
I know it's hard sometimes to tell apart Die Deterioration, Machine Doubling and true Doubling depending on how far gone the die is..
It's really the first 9 on date, also I and B in liberty that made me think possible Doubling..

Just hang in there RCarv!!!! After you have looked at several hundred (if not thousands of coins......) you will definitely learn the difference between MD, DDD and then what a true doubled die looks like. Once you find your first you will never look back!
