Looks like two coins got glued together. The glue was left behind on the nickel.

Notice how the lettering is all reversed?

I think this is the third coin this week with glue on it.
Anyhow, soak it in acetone for 24 hours and it should disappear.

Acetone is you friend. Let us know how the coin appears after the soak. Thanks.

to CCF. Acetone does not always remove adhesive, but that is what you have. Some type of "glue" not an error.

agree with John1. If the acetone do not work they are the mineral spirits (alcohols) and the ether (diethyl ether), the last one is the most strong obtained from some drug store less conservatives because is more restrictive product to the laboratories.

The first clue it is glue and not a second strike:
1. Note the imprint on the affected area. It is mirrored, meaning the was what the other coin looked like, but was mirrored because of the glue imprint. If it were a strike. All the devices would be normal and the donor coin would be imprint and flattened. Not seeing that on your coin. The coin was altered with glue.
