Does this penny have a doubled ear? I have seen similar ones on other forums, but they did not arrive at a consensus on the cause. The pictures are not the greatest but I'm working with what I have.

It looks like a doubled ear to me. Note the shape resembles the shape of the hub. (more than others I've seen)

Ok I'm excited about the find. What do you think I should do with it for verification?

Don't need verification. It is what it is. Thinking of having it slabbed. It would not be worth it. It would cost more than it would be worth. Just put it in 2X2 mark the reference numbers on the holder and try to find more of them. Why did I make the last statement? Because in some areas these are released. There will be could lot more of them in that area. So you may find tons of them and everyone else won't find them. Save the extras for trading for other coins, that they have tons of. That is what I would do. Look high and low in the area where you found your coin. (If you don't find more in your area, it may have been delivered by a snow bird.

They sometimes travel. We get a lot of snow birds here. The only way get Philly coins here.

It is a very nice example of 2018-D DDO-001 as coop linked above. Very cool find! Not worth the money to get it slabbed but certainly worth flipping up and putting in your collection. Congrats!

Excellent find Mrdrae, congrats! I don't think this variety was discovered very long ago (maybe a few years back if I remember correctly) so I agree with everyone on it not being worth sending it in but still a cool find. I've been looking closer at my '18 D's since I heard about it. Good job

Edit: I said (maybe a few years back....) Should have just said a year or so back being that 2018 was not that long ago....lol.
