In a recent talk with my LCS owner about getting some variety coins slabbed, he suggested that I go through ANACS rather than PCGS. He explained that he has been having issues with PCGS customer service and I have noticed that they make quite a few mistakes. I have seen many issues with PCGS Q/C [e.g. listing a D as an S, large date as a small date, questionable grading, etc].

I think his reasoning was: lower cost, decent grader and attribution of a variety. I have several varieties that I would like to 'make official'.

Currently, PCGS is the "most respected" slabbing company even though ANACS has been around longer. I suppose NGC is a close second.

For those that get coins slabbed:
My question is, all things considered, is an ANACS-slabbed variety coin on par with a PCGS or NGC?

ANACS is awesome to deal with and yes their variety attributions
are dead on , especially VAM s .
Also ANACS coins have a pretty good sell through rate for us
online at both ebay and Etsy .
Plus when you call them ( we had a small shipping issue )
they actually answer the phone ! When it was resolved it
was the CEO himself calling us back .
In my books , ANACS Is very highly Recommended!

ANACS is really best used for errors and varieties just to authenticate coins to sell.

Let me say this.

As far as range of attributions, ANACS is best. Resale value though? They suck. If it's something valuable or rare PCGS or NGC, preferably PCGS.

Thanks for your feedback.

I do like the the newer ANACS [round-top] cases as they are easy to read when loaded into a display case. Not sure I am concerned too much about resale value [buy the coin, not the slab] and ANACS does seem to provide a much broader range of varieties that they attribute [though my coins are mostly major varieties].

I'm right on the page with Grapes here. I can't get a decent value from an ANACS coin, and often can buy great varieties far under value in ANACS slabs. I only use them for things PCGS won't put on a label. Agreed, they are by far the best company as far as companies and employees go, but just no respect for their slabs out there. PCGS is very problematic to deal with, and too often makes mistakes. But long run thinking is that a solid major variety in a PCGS slab is an investment worth doing, so I am willing to put up with the long delays and mistakes needing fixed.
