Standard bank roll find. If this Zincoln was eat up with zinc rot, MD, DDD or split plating issues I would assume that that was the case here but I'm just not seeing that to be the issue. My observation is this: There appears to be a well defined vertical primary leg left of the full D. The top of the vertical leg has a well defined upper curve that joins the secondary, or more prominent, full defined mint mark (I get primary and secondary mixed up on RPM's so I believe I'm saying this correctly), and finally, the secondary or full size mm appears to be rotated slightly CW. I know these zincs can be plagued with rot but I'm just not seeing it here with the really good definition and rounded metal of the leg of the vertical bar. But then again....... I'm no pro, just my observations, and I can't find a comparable one of these if in fact it is an RPM. I believe any of the slightly darker spots tucked away besides the devices is just gunk best I can see under my loupe. Thinking about a quick acetone bath but haven't done it yet pending some replies. Thanks.

Looks like PMD as there is metal pushed east narrowing the MM.

I considered that too CoinHi. There's some glare in my pics but I'm not seeing a hit at all with this one in hand. I tried to cover all those bases and that's a good suggestion. If it did take a hit right there I would expect to see flattening and not a rounded raised vertical leg IMHO. Not completely ruling it out and if it is PMD it couldn't have been placed in a more discerning location....lol. Thanks.

Took a hit like the '7'. Note that both are flattened into the devices that area there. A RPM would be showing an extra punching of the punch:

On this coin, you can see two punches of the mintmark on this die.

Maybe not a 'hit' exactly but I've seen this effect on plenty of late 80's zincolns MMs. It's a plating and/or Die Deterioration issue. If you imagine that the bar to the east isn't there the shape and size is a normal MM.

The black areas of your coin are Carbon Spots that aren't going to go away.
