Hi Snooba,
Don't want to deflate your elation, but does your collection have the 1985 rabbit? I've got 3. I know of only 3 others. Check out my poor scanning ability.Rabbit-Earshttp://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...83530_Rabbit Ear 1985.jpg target _blank rel nofollow Rabbit-Ears Rabbit Ear 1985.jpg /a br / 17.94 nbsp KB" border="0" style='cursor:default' onClick='doimage(this, event)'>

I can give you a very basic explanation only. One of the experts can elaborate further. On the $1 'mob of roos' coins in the years 1984, 1985, 1994, 1998 & 2000, on the reverse the very top kangaroo (the smallest kangaroo in the background) appears to have large ears resembling a rabbits ears.

https://goccf.com/ebay ebay /a listing displays 4 of the 5 rabbit yers. They are not relly clear, they do require close-up photographs, but they are for sale by a respecteed member of the the Australin coin community. Look at the top Kangaroo's ear. The 2000 is the most prominent. br / br / I will try to get a permanent display shown here. br / br / http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1843-94-98-2...ns_W0QQitemZ a href= https://www.coincommunity.com/go/link.asp?target=https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/110022728050 target= _blank rel= nofollow https://www.coincommunity.com/go/link.asp?target=https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/110022728050 /a 110022728050" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> blockquote id= quote font size= 2 face= Arial id= quote quote: hr height= 1 noshade id= quote i Originally posted by Aidan Work /i br / br / What exactly are the 'rabbit ears' coins? br / br / Aidan. br / hr height= 1 noshade id= quote /font id= quote /blockquote id= quote Aidan, The following a target= _blank id= keywords href= https://goccf.com/ebay ebay /a listing displays 4 of the 5 rabbit yers. Trust me when I say they are just as hard to find here. I have found 5 mules compared to my 3x85 rabbits. I've searched 100s of thousands of $1 coins. Others have looked at much more.

I had an aussie forum member jokingly offer to swap me a 2000 mule for one. It might not have been such a bad suggestion.

I have recently sent a 1985, 1994, 1998 and 2000 rabbit to a CC forum member. So there are definitely wascally wabbits in the U.S. They should arrive about next Wednesday.

Most people believe they are the set. Not so! There is the 1985 rabbit which is as scarce as hen's teeth and the newly found 2006 which has two varities (a large and small). I will try and get a decent photo of the 2000 rabbit, because its the one that gives this variety its name. The Cud on it looks like a set of folded back rabbit ears. Here are pictures of the 1985 and 2006 large.

The story so far on the 2006 rabbit is that I managed to get about 20 rolls of unc 2006 $1 from the bank. They are not generally available throughout Australia yet. I opened the ones with two reverses. i.e, no date displayed. Bingo! The first had a large and a small rabbit, although I didn't recognise the ear Cud on the smaller and saw only the 'spew' on the other rabbit's back. I nicknamed that one the spew roo. It does appear however to be the precursor to the larger rabbit.

I opened the rest of the reverse rolls and found lots more. I had sent a few rolls to other aussie forum members. Two came back saying there were none in their rolls. I got another 25 rolls from the same bank the very next day. I opened 8 rolls and found nothing. In all, from the first lot of (say) 20 rolls, I found 37 large and 12 small rabbits. Then nothing. It was obviously a 'glory hole'. I think that's the term isn't it?

When I found the first one, I ran through the house all excited, exclaiming I had found a 2006 rabbit. My wife told me to shut up and stop making so much noise as she was watching TV. Oh well, I thought it was exciting.

Hello,

WOOHOOO! I found my first 2006 1$ in circulation yesterday and it was a spew roo with a largish Cud behind the ear and a smaller Cud on the queens chin.

Well done Yass for coming up with such an apt description for this coin, I feel sorry for the 2nd roo...... Oh, and my wife didnt really see any significance in the coin either.
