What is the weight of the coin? If over 5.0 grams, something was added to the coin. The weight is normal it was squeezed with something on each side of the coin. (The marks would be incuse on the coin) If the coin was squeezed, the edges might look altered out of center. But the coin wasn't struck like that. Altered post strike.

Note on that device, the die flow lines join the devices making them wider near the rim area. (Just opposite happens when the dies are polished, reducing the fields, making the devices smaller) This continues get worse as the die ages. You have seen before where the devices are wider at the top/bottoms of devices. Some times it enlarges, other times morphing the devices into hideous shapes. These are not doubled die, but die deteriorating from die wear. But they are continued to be used. But that is what is happening to the die, this coin was struck with.
