The 'ST' is missing in 'TRUST' on the obv of this 1917 penny and the rev has very light stamping of 'AMER' in 'AMERICA'. Was the die greased filled. Does this condition add any value to the coin?

Most probable grease . But this coin has been harshly cleaned .

I think you've called this correctly - the product of a slightly grease-filled die.

I agree with the first part Tony, but I don't think cleaned - just overexposure from the wrong type of lighting. Very nice 17-S

EDIT: Yes, grease causing weak details on Obverse and Reverse! But nothing to warrant a premium over the actual value.

Concur with the grease assessment. Given the grease matter hasn't led to a dramatic loss of coin detail, I'd say there isn't much (if any) added value.

How tell for sure? Note on the reverse, you can see the 'S' on States widened. Also on the line below that 'R' on America. The grease fills the deepest recesses of the die, when it is not totally filled, the partial will will prevent the deepest tapered area, and show the wider area near the bases if the devices:
