Take a look at this auction and tell me what you think. On the obverse I see what appears to be obliterated text behind the head, a dent in front of the bust. On the reverse I see a suspect area at the top above the eagle, die chip at U and another between the T and the rim. ebay item number: 203339099464

Looks OK to me. If you don't like it, don't bid.

Looks genuine to me, obverse was perhaps cleaned long ago.

Old cleaning. Looks legit to me.

Definitely real . Don't think a guy with over 40 K feedback is selling fakes ,

It happens when accounts get hijacked, not often though.

A bit less than 4 days left - all the way up to $103.50 already! Were you thinking about bidding?

When I first saw this coin it looked very attractive and I would estimate the details to be high XF or perhaps AU details but still my eyes are immediately drawn to area behind the head and it just doesn't look right to me. Perhaps if it were in a dealers shop and I could see it first hand and weigh and measure it, I would consider it but as it stands right now I still have my doubts. Also just because a seller has good feedback doesn't mean they are immune from offering something I still consider suspect.

My vote is genuine, but with the comment that it has been cleaned and corroded. I fully understand why you think it is, and I admit I agreed for a bit before looking at it a bit longer. The lightly porous surfaces paired with the cleaning look very suspect, but to me looks more like a coin recovered from either saltwater or acidic soil.

The coin is undoubtedly genuine, cleaned and corroded I agree with.

My thanks to others for mentioning the old cleaning markers - wouldn't have recognized it before this point. It looks like a nice one, wonder where that bidding will take people...
