I have this Peace dollar I purchased a while back and I'm hoping to find a way to remove the glue without damaging the coin. Any ideas?

A good soak in acetone should remove it, but it's possible the surface underneath will not blend well with the surrounding areas.

And the acetone won't damage the luster?

No, acetone won't have an effect on the metal of the coin itself

I agree with the frog though that you are likely to have distinct areas of different surface toning once the glue is gone. That doesn't mean you shouldn't remove it, but just rather temper your expectations. On the other hand, maybe it will look kinda cool being two-toned.

For me, blotch toning is preferred to glue residue.

Good luck!

Amen to that. Away with the glue! Reveal those surfaces before anything can worsen underneath

Acetone is your friend, when used properly.

A Lincoln Cent somehow got glued to it. Follow the above to remove. A slight amount of heat, and meaning just that, from a heat gun to soften it should work if acetone alone does not. Adhesive has a much, much lower melting point than silver, so too much will lead to toning.
