So these two Promotional Morgans that were probably given as incentives to open savings accounts are up for auction. I have a few questions and perhaps some of you have some insight concerning these.

1.) They say uncirculated and so will take the banks word for it on that. But I'm pretty sure that at the time they were placed in these promotional give away holders they were shiny and lustrous. They've aged and tarnished and toned and one I can see has some PVC residue. The residue can be removed with acetone I assume, but do you think the toning/aging helps or hurts their value?

2.) Do you think that having them in these promotional bank holders adds to their rarity and value or detracts?

3.) And lastly, these are seller images that I have enlarged and tried to clean up, but even though they are not great, could you take a best guess as to grade?

Thanks ........

P.S. I also noticed that the "O" mint mark looks slanted, any significance to that?

That was my immediate concern. From my understanding, you can remove the PVC residue, but the damage may be permanent. I would definitely remove from the PVC holders, especially since you live in a high humidity area.

1) The toning on the 84 O is a neutral. The 88 toning is a negative. The PVS has most likely etched the surface and at a minimum there will be a color difference, acetone can remove the PVC residue.
2) The coins need to be removed from the PVC plastic bank holders and I am not aware of any Morgan premiums from bank holders.
3) The 84 O shows some luster, but can not grade from these images. Bid the 84 O at AU and 88 at AU details.

I like the 84 O as it looks like a nice original example.

Thank you Slider .......

At high AU even in today's hot market, they are fully priced already at the current bid of $99.99. They would need to be 62ish or better to make me even consider them then. Since you don't think they are, plus the one with a negative tone, I'll keep my money for something else that will come down the pike. Thanks for the input.

Good choice not buy these coins as I just noticed that the 88 have PVC residue on the rim area.
