I love the toning on this penny. Looks like it may be a woody too?

I like it. Hint of woody too. May have been cleaned long ago--still cool.

Note the highest points are worn smooth? That tells me this coin through the years has been polished or cleaned a few times. Note how the obverse closed devices are filled? Also part of a cleaning, possible a paste cleaner.

What type of paste cleaner would people use? Not that I would use it. I never clean any coins in fear of messing them up. And I've read mostly that it takes any value away.
Rest in Peace

Yeah this coin was subject to a botched clean up job .You don't clean a worn coin in this manner , eye appeal 0/10 .

I remember as a child, there was a jewelry polish that was green in color. It would stick into the closed devices and was always a give away. I don't remember the name now. But also Brasso is a polish in thick liquid form.

Are the lines from cleaning or is it a woody?

Your 3rd picture down looks as if it was a dug coin and was scrubbed with something to clean it up. So I say not a true woody.

To me this doesn't look like a woody, but others may disagree.

I think it's a very subtle woody on the obverse. That linear pattern seen best in the second photo did not result from cleaning abrasion, in my opinion.
Rest in Peace

No, that was when I lived in Iowa. We didn't have Mexican food there for years. The only thing we know of back then was taco sauce. We'd heard of tacos, but had never seen one. (Back when 4 cents was all it cost to send a letter.
