Don't know what it is but sure has seen better days. Could you try better and closer photos of date area?

The jewellery shop did say it was 22kg gold I did go bit mad at the shop they did take bit out coin to test it. Thanks for your messages.

It appears to be a brass token issued by B. Hyam of Liverpool.

T. Batty, 1868-1884. (John Forsyth, Manchester. [29 Parts].

Gold..I don't know, we have all seen buried hoards pull out of the ground (along with ship wrecked recoveries) and after 100+ years laying there they still look like gold...you decide...

It seems unlikely (even ignoring the corrosion) that a fairly small business would have a reason to mint 22k gold tokens.
And if they did it seems even less likely they'd be of the same design as their brass 1/2p ones.

How exactly did they test it?

If that's gold I'm the Wizard of Oz. Simple set of calipers, scales and some maths should give you the density. Even just the weight in your hand should be a guide. As Eligius suggested, sell it the jeweler for gold scrap price. Best deal you could do in a lifetime.

22k gold doesn't corrode like that. It's not gold, and no jeweller would ever believe it was, with or without a test.
