So these things have become more and more prevalent through the years. When I go to them, I always try to make sure I get some change back when inserting my debit cards to make payments at the local supermarkets... usually it is 9 or 19 cents depending... yesterday I got 9 cents back (nickel and four pennies) and one of the pennies turned out to be a 1942 Wheat cent! Thanks, all! Hopefully I'm not the only one doing this... probably won't find any rare coins this way, but it's a fun way of maximizing your circulation finds!

9 cents in change from the local grocery store's self-checkout produced a 1953 Philly nickel today.

Thanks! Nothing too special lately, though did find my first 2021-D Quarter with the normal Washington obverse in tonight's 94 cents worth of change - yes, I'm looking for W's!

Happy to finally update this thread with a find. Got 9 cents in change today at the self-serve kiosk at the local supermarket & the nickel turned out to be a 2009-D! Especially considering I just got $27.50 for a roll of these on ebay, I'm quite happy!
