Is this a trial error or damage? You can see a few pillars on the reverse and barely see the Y in liberty along with a faint portrait of Lincoln, the coin also has no rim.

Damage. Someone altered it. You can see the sanding marks on the coin.

Severe damage--much abrasion. We see coins similar to this every few weeks or so.

Thanks for the info, what about the non existent rim? It has an outward "V" shape?

The rim was a casualty in the abrading process--long gone. It's possible the abrading was intentional, and the 'V' shape was a result.

The fact there was no rim was the giveaway it isn't a mint error. Just post mint damage ( PMD).
