Hi, I would like to know if this shade of garnet-like color is part of many specimens, or if they are difficult to find.

Looks to be environmental damage and verdigris to me.

Thank you for your reply, but the outline of the coin also has the same color tone.
Rest in Peace

The garnet color is not that uncommon with wheat cents. Of all the mountains of wheat cents I've gone through over many decades, I've probably seen a few thousand garnet-toned examples. As pointed out, the coin also has some corrosion going on. If you like the coin, keep it.

Certainly corrosion, clear your answer, but is there a particular color of the cents hard to find?
