Yesterday I was able to select four cash coins that all date to European medieval times. The first three below were issued by the Northern Sung Dynasty.

First, a Shao-Sheng in seal script, 1094 to 1097. On the heavy side at 4.6 grams. Dot on reverse. I rather like the patination of this specimen.

The second is a Hsien-P'ing from the period 998 to 1004. The reverse is blank. This would appear to be the broad rim variety.

Next, a T'ien-Sheng, 1023 to 1031. Again, a blank reverse.

Finally, what I believe to be a Southern Sung Dynasty piece, most likely a Chia-Ting of 1208 to 1224, although I admit I'm not at all certain about this. Cash coins of this particular era were more of a mishmash and not so well documented as might be desired for identification purposes. The quality of this example seems superior to most, though.
