I've been staring at this Lincoln a lot. Ready to submit it for grading. Am considering ANACS over PCGS partially because of costs, but mostly because I'm not happy with PCGS turnaround times,

I'm blown away by Lincoln. The full strike detail is like a proof. The mirror finish had me THINKING it was a proof until I see there was no proofs for 1965 Lincolns? The color and luster. And that it's hard to find flaws helps!

The closest I can get on this one is to think it has to be MS67, at least ... I'm wondering if it might not be an MS68. Tough by pic, but what do you feel?

Might be a misaligned-die (MAD) on the obverse. I would say MS65

I'm leaning toward 66. A few light ticks here and there. Some spotting. Nice example.
Rest in Peace

Has to be a SMS 1965 Lincoln Cent . Yes it's a beauty but I don't know how ANACS will call it .

once you get into that MS67 or above range you really need sharp photos with minimal glare and a couple different coin angles. I'm at MS66RD without better photos

I showed it to my Mom with some other coins I like. She too singled out this 1965-P. She just couldn't get over how 'perfect' it is.

But it's not a proof. I think I'm certain of that. I took a look at some Special Strike examples (SMS). There was one made for 1965, but I think there's too much gloss in Lincoln's head on those. My 1965-P doesn't have a shiny bust. I'd call it matt finish, if anything, but I'm still thinking this is an unbelievable business strike.

As for more/better pics - I have some! Keep in mind, my pics above are showing quite a bit of magnification. I should back it off and resubmit. By the naked eye - this coin is flawless.

Weird how we acquire some coins. Like anyone else I pay up for coins that are certified and predictable in value. Someone asked where I acquired this one from - an online auction (not ebay).

IMO there are only 2 strikes this could be - business or special. I think it's a business strike and if it's acceptable to the group I would like to attach more suitable pics for this coin.

Past experience tells me that you are either going to overkill photos or underkill it. Nobody ever says "that's a perfect number of pics!" LOL. (I was pointed out for uploading too many on a previous post!)

Is it ok if I attach say, 4 more pics to this post? I really believe it's a MS67 or better. Fair to say I could've done better on pics - these are only 137kb.

Thanks everyone! I can't really disagree with any of you, except to say that I hope you '65 and '66 opinions are WRONG by one grade point!! :P

You may want to look into sending it to ANACS for grading/slabbing.
