Dimes are almost always fun to investigate and assess. There's wear involved here, maybe some grease, and perhaps the early manifestation of Die Deterioration. Full-coin photos--obverse and reverse--might tell us more.
Since the rim is weak too it could be a tapered planchet. Can we have a full reverse photo and if you have a scale, what is the weight in grams? Thanks!
