Okay, my fearless leaders! Here is another one for you. I have no idea what is going on here and I am just looking for you all to teach me. I kept this 1995 Kennedy half dollar because it looked to be in such nice shape.

This is what I found when taking a closer look... Is this stuff anything? If so what is it? Is it worth hanging on too?

What is going on with the "I" and "S" and "T"?
Why does it look like JFK has a barrette in his hair?
Why is the snake not there?
What is going on at the eye?
His neck looked funny to me too, but I think that is normal after taking a second look.

I can't wait to hear from you all about this one!

Have a great day, and Thank you to all have served!

Carla

From what I see it appears that the die was wiped down with a grease issue and the cloth pushed the grease into the outer devices, filling and part fill them. How can I tell? Well the devices are tapered. So when grease gets into the deeper parts of the die (the most narrow part) the devices will look wide because of the grease. No premium for this. Unless most of the devices are blocked out. Which on your coin, only a few are affected.

So no premium for this. The gold for this one is knowing what caused the issue. So the next time you see it, you can move on to the next coin because now you know what this is.

Looks like it's starting to develop some nice toning...why not keep it......see what happens to it in the years to come.
