Thanks everyone. It's something that it's still hanging on. Yes John1. We waited for a few minutes but figured you weren't going to join.

Note the color difference. Check the weight. It is probably a lam, but if the weight is normal, it might be a struck through debris or even a rim bur. The color difference makes me question this coin.

First time it weighed 3.16. Then five at 3.15.

I have several 50's with the same coloring. I thought it was the 50's version of woody?

So the weight shows a slight loss. So it is probably a lamination issue.

Hi coop. Just curious. The coin weight should be 3.11? Also. Can you explain what you meant by the color? Did you mean if the color of the peace peeling off it might/could be debris ? Need to know for future? Thanks again. Rob.

Color of the metal can be changed by being exposed to different circumstances. If during the cold rolling process, the metal was rolled on to the stock material and the color was lightly different, it would show it as a different color. The small pieces like this could be rolled on the to metal. When flattened and stretched. Thus the color could be slightly different. Thus on the peeling area, it becomes loose, then starts to peel, that is what color differences I see. The hot rolled color is one color, the cold roll that picks up other loose pieces of metal could be a slightly different color. That is what I'm seeing on this coin.

Thanks. That's what I thought you were talking about. With coin in front of me it does look to be different.

looks like the lam peeled back and was folded over the 'O' on the 'one' after the coin was struck. The coin is heavier than average but within tolerances
