Came across these while roll hunting and thought they were rather interesting- the coins on the right are just "normal" examples for comparison.

I didn't see a reference to it on coppercoins, but I may not be using the site search correctly

MUCH easier to see than the 60 & 70 large/small dates, in my opinion...

Those are nice. I like the mintmark location variations.

Mint marks were punched into the die by hand. So long as the mint mark is in that area and not hitting anything else it is considered mormal.

1989 was the final year the mm was punched by hand. Here is my 89-D. I have actually seen lower than this! I got outbid on ebay. This one I found in change

While they don't usually command a premium, I also collect a few mintmark location varieties. A couple of my favs are 1914's with high and low S's.

That's 74D is insanely low...so is that 89D!

These may not command increased prices, but I really like them. Someone must have had a bad Monday morning on the '89 or it was the new guy?

I've have trying to collect them on the 1942 Australian Florin produced at San Francisco.

There is also Large and small dates on the 1974 Cents. It just takes a little time to know which one is which. They don't command any premium as they are close to the same numbers of each. The small date 1960 is worth more as few of these were made. The small date 1960 D is in higher production than the Philly one.
Here is what to watch for if your interested in identifying the large/small date 1974 Cents.

I also have a 1930-S where the S is touching the date. I like the mm variations.
