Appears to be solder to me. It's definitely not an error, that much is a given...but exactly what contaminates the reverse would be a guess without closer examination.
So sorry for dropping this topic. Had family issues. But thank you for your opinions and I'll take it as fact and move on. I have a lot of silver coins I'm currently going through. I'll send pictures but if you could give me some ideas other than the all known key coins, rarest, etc. Though I have a couple I'd like to know about the coins that are in great shape of various denominations, years, mints, etc. I do have a 1935-D 25C that is very nice. I have a lot, lot of coins.
