It's one of the three armed forces medals struck by the US Mint as part of its bicentennial coins and medals program. The other two were for the Army and Marine Corps. The medals were authorized by Public Law 94-117 which was approved by President Gerald Ford on October 17, 1975. Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. All rights reserved.
