Hello Coin Community! Boogeyman here again with yet another possible treasure or trash item, I am extremely grateful to have found this community because I find some of the coolest stuff in my travels and it's awesome to share it with the coolest community. Y'all are always knowledgeable and polite and you have been so informative to me.
Well I'm happy today to be able to (possibly) share with you all an incredibly lucky find of an Atocha Coin. Of course will be attached some pictures that again I hope are easy to use in determining.
Qualities I can tell you outside of site: Cursory research has verified at least it looks like an Atocha. It feels heavy enough to not be novelty. The coin had been dropped in some paint but I have personally cleaned it with only water and baking soda. There is some trace amounts of color there. I wondered if it is authentic or replica. Also is it irregular and if possible a value. Thank you. Boogeyman

Yep this is a modern token sold for use in pirate-themed parties.

Thank you all for the feedback I was wondering if the replica had any value I had noticed online that there were some higher priced replicas but I think that may be due to the jewelry surrounding them. Again thank you to The experts who have commented.

You have a replica of a coin purportedly made in Seville, Spain. The Atocha didn't make it that far and sunk with its cargo of silver from the Americas. It is wrong on several levels thinking of this as an Atocha salvage coin.

Pistareen, I got my first pistole a month ago. 1788 Madrid. Weight is correct at 6.8 grams. The classic Spanish doubloon.

The coin dealer had it in his odd box of foreign gold, and sold it for melt. Not a rare one by any means, but priced far below what they trade for on the specialist sites and the bay. He also had a 1/2 escudo, but it was ex-jewelry and had solder on the back.

It pays to buy stuff like this from people you know. Buyers get the odd pieces mixed with the rest of the estates, and price them to move. They're not fooled by "atocha" treasures, nor are they in the business of trying to pass them off to you.
