I'm starting the learning curve on the $2.50 Gold pieces. What do you all think - cleaned or problem free? (Sorry, I know they aren't the best, but these are the seller's pictures).

Pictures are not high enough quality to evaluate.

There appears to be a raised area above the word liberty, so the coin may have been jewelry. There are so many counterfeits in this series, and they are difficult to spot. If you are buying online, stick to the $2.50 in the TPG holders. On the $2.50 the field in front and behind the eagle's head is the easiest area to spot a cleaning.

The coin looks like an English Tea Biscuit.

I would aim towards overdipped but the pics are sort of fuzzy.

I agree, the pics don't allow for any meaningful opinions. I'm not a fan of sellers using cutesy angled pics. They hide more than they reveal. Maybe nudge the seller to give you head-on natural light pics?

The upthread comments are spot on.

Has very little wear but there's no way to guess on a cleaning from those images. My experience has been that many gold Indians floating around raw are cleaned.

Agree. If the seller won't send you proper images, I'd just pass.

Better photos needed for both grading and authentication.
