With just over 6 hours left on the auction of this coin, bidding has reached an astonishing $58! Note that the handle for this coin-turned-pie-crimper is absent. Either some folks REALLY like pie and/or they think they're bidding on a mint error! Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/334040073920

I can certainly understand the appeal of this to a large cent specialist/novelty collector or even a collector of antique kitchen utensils.

With 4:56 left to go the coin(?) is at $149.38. I have to go now as I'm off to the workshop to modify all of my cull large cents.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Cool looking. Couldn't justify breaking out $150 for it though.

Yes, we all know this is obvious PMD, but this probably should not go on the thread the worst coins on ebay, Etsy, Craigslist, etc., instead should be a weird exception

I saw it on ebay. I would have bid, but not after $149. I used to have one but this one is one of the nicest I have seen.

I agree Dr. Burnzy. I have a birthday coming up. I'm asking for a birthday pie instead of cake gosh darnit. Maybe French silk. or banana cream. or pumpkin!!! Oh man. I've got an important decision to make.

Some were also fasioned into gears for use in clocks. This is a particularly nice example. I have a gear but not this nice. The gears could be identified by the upsweeping teeth whereas the pie crimpers are either just teeth or bent metal to be used for crimping.

That's something I've never seen before, but my first thought was "That was something my grandpa would have made"! Brought a smile to my face - he passed away many decades ago, at age 86, but I've still got a lot of his hand-made tools and utensils he fashioned from common items and scrap metal. This would have been right up his alley!
