it is nothing I have ever seen before. If I had to guess I would say it was going to be used for some type of custom jewelry, but I am not sure. can I get some opinions from someone who is more knowledgeable about this coin or even someone that is experienced in custom jewelry.

It appears like somebody was halfway done in making a coin ring, and gave up. Easy to make this piece, just hit the edge with the hammer over and over until it mushrooms over.
