So I'm curious as to if anyone knows how this was caused? Whatever is going on in the first part of Liberty,I don't know... The area is still somewhat shiny like the rest of the quarter, and when you look at it at a bit of an angle you can see the LI under it so I'm definitely not ruling out PMD, but once again I don't know...As always appreciate anything anyone can tell me about how it came to be...

Looks like it was struck through an area of grease/oil with debris from the minting process. I don't see this as enough of a strike through to add value to the coin, but I would put it in a 2x2 and add it to my collection of grease filled strikes.

Partially Grease Filled Dies are not uncommon nor do they add much value
but they are a fun find and worthy of a 2x2 to add to your collection.
