Hey ya'll I'm new at this so please excuse my lack of knowledge, I have a 1886 mint mark O I'm fairly good conditon , all the feathers are clear and the stars are proud and un faded, the libery hairband is clear and even the hair pins holding up her flowing locks. I know enough to know theres not alot of these around, I'm totally confused on how to grade this coin, Please advise me on ym possiblities. Thanks, any and all help will be well appreciated. Hi Sheri
Welcome to the forum !!
From your description the coin sounds like it is in pretty good condition,, can you post pics ? This coin in Higher grades carries a very nice premium !!!
But without pics it will be next to impossible to assess a grade !!

Hi Sherri, Look at the breast feathers and tips of the wings on the reverse of the coin....compare this to a picture of an uncirculated coin that you can find in any coin magazine or online pic......there may even be some around here. if the coin is well struck the breast feathers will be plainly visible in all grades above an XF....which does allow for some wear to be present for the grade.......a picture would be nice....according to RedBook the coin's price goes up substantialy in grades higher than MS60 but has a nice premium even in the AU grades of 50-59. Hope this helps.

Hi Sheri
The pics came through on the email, but I get an invalid file extension, when I move them to the photo processing .
which means I cant get them to where I can post them.
Your going to have to post them !!Since the file did not come to me with the pics,, I can see from properties why you had problems, the file size must be below 100KB,, I think you will make that size easy if you crop the pics down to just the coin eliminating the surrounding back ground.
Once you have sized them, click the camera Icon and select browse, select your file and upload, Do not preview the post or the IMG will be removed, just select to post the pics.
sorry I could not help with the pics, but the file was lost somewhere in the middle.
The pics are a bit small for me to accurately grade, the obverse pic is to blury , the reverse from what can be seen looks like the coin will hit in the f to VF rage,, If you can get the pics up this can be made much more specific .

Just a side note: If you're using Mozilla FireFox as a browser, don't! It won't complete the upload (due to JS blocking). Internet Explorer works, though...

Hi Sheri and welcome to our CC family. We'll get those pics uploaded somehow! Please try sending them to susan@coincommunity.com. I'll see what I can do for you. I'll crop and resize them for you. Try sending the original pics that are not resized.

The problem is that they're in bmp format. My editor doesn't have a problem with it, but you need to save it as a .jpg or .gif for the forum to accept the upload. Here is the pic of the reverse. The obverse pic is way too blurry to give an opinion of grade. Sheri, if you could forward a sharper image of the obverse, I'll post that also.

I think it may be a VF30, possibly EF40. It's so hard to tell with these New Orleans coins since the breast/leg feather strikes are often poor. I'm looking forward to seeing the obverse pic.
