Looks like a contact mark on the bottom of the bucket, not a die chip or break. Just damage.

Yes, looks like a contact mark--trace of the contact 'hit' can be seen on the bucket's high points, above the bucket's base.

Looking at the pump and bucket. What is the vertical line above the bucket. I know most of the older ones know what it is, but the younger ones may not know? That line pictured the handle to carry the bucket with. The pump had a notch on the pump to keep this from falling off while you were pumping. This kept the bucket from accidentally tipping over and you would have to start again:

On this pump instead of a notch there was a raised area to keep the handle from falling off the pump. Just wonder if anyone did not know this. (Or are all of us, as old as dirt?)
