Just trying to find out what this is, Is it a mint error or after production? The edges are wore out but its there. I don't have a way to take quality pics. sorry but I will today. I've looked and could not find an example. It says 2.56 on the scale and has a big date, with big carbon spots on the obverse. Thanks!
I don't think those are striations from the cutting process as far as I could tell from the pics of striations.. they match the quarter edges exactly though.
It is not an error, it is damage of some sort. Hard to say what without full pictures, but the important thing is that it could not have happened during the striking of the coin.
Appears to have some of the characteristics of a dryer coin--the 'flatness' of the rim only, not the hint of reeding. Any chance we could see large and sharp photos of the full coin--obverse and reverse? Thanks.
