I'm interested to see what the consensus is on this 18-D Buffalo nickel.

Thanks

The obverse is better the the reverse, overall I think this coin might grade VF-20.

VG8. Not enough detail in the hair or braid to get up to F12. Also, horn must be "partially visible" for F12, which is not the case. Also, what is at 4:30 or so on the obverse rim --it almost looks like a carved letter. Is that on the coin itself or is that from the photo?

No way this is VF- not enough horn showing. VG10 to maybe F. If horn was half way I'd go to solid F.

groganking-The marks at 4:30 are just a couple of small nicks on the rim. I didn't even notice them until you brought it up.

I believe VG10 is a good call on this. My question was whether this was possibly Fine. I too think that if it had a little more horn detail it would have been a lock at Fine.
