I've been looking at pennies mainly.but when it comes to DOUBLE DIES I always read or hear that the lettering is wider and this lettering is alot wider than all the other lettering on all the dimes I just looked at. So what an I looking at a Double die yes or no. Ty

Not a DOUBLED Die. Fat letters don't always mean that it is Doubling, they can
occur from worn dies or circulation wear as well as is the case with your coin.

Agree. Given the many images posted, I believe I'm seeing circulation flattening on a common, circulated '84 D dime made from worn dies.

Fat devices can be an indicator of die doubling--but are not always the result of die doubling.

Circulation flattening is at its worst in vending machines. These hit all of the devices running through the mec. (The coin roll through this to identify size and denomination of the coins before the purchase can be completed. This involves contact with the machines devices)
