The mark over his eye looks like a bag mark or circulation hit to me, if that's what you're referencing.

I don't get it then this searching is a waste of time for me I guess. But that eye doesn't look right at all to me. If it was a hit from something the line going through it. The rest of it still looks differnt from any other eye to me

Derfsup What you need to learn is the minting process and what an error coin is then you won't be wasting your time looking at common damaged coins. There are numerous sites you can look at. Remember, if it didn't occur during the striking of the coin then it can't be an error so by knowing how a coin is struck, it will help you in determining if it is an error or not. A little studying can go a long way in helping you so don't give up.
A good site to see what constitutes an error is error-ref.com

Don't give up so quickly. Real 'errors' caused by the mint are rare, that is why the have such a nice premium. Damage to coins is hugely more common. Once a coin leave the minting chamber, it is subject to hits from processing and bagging. Then there is the circulation damage that will occur to the coin. Then there is the intentional damage to coins. The list goes on.
Keep searching. You will find that elusive error coin.

The mark is incuse on the coin. If it were a die issue, it would be raised. 99% of incuse marks on coins are caused in the circulation on coins.

Quote: I don't get it then this searching is a waste of time for me I guess. There are many here who have searched for years and have yet to find a true error coin. Errors on coins are not common! You cannot look at a handful of coins and expect to find errors therein. Keep searching! Maybe if you're lucky someday you'll find one! Until them, have fun searching! You never know what you'll come up with! Bonne chance!

There is no sense in roll searching if you do not know what to look for. Research a lot first, then search rolls. John1
