Hi guys,

I have this 1998 P Washington quarter and noticed that there is a metal piece stuck on the obverse right side at the back of Washington's head.

Is this considered an interior die break? If so, is this uncommon on Quarters? I have not seen this before.

Yes it is an odd place for a die chip. That is why I am wondering how often this occurs?

Die chips are not all that hard to find. Unless they are very large they rarely bring a premium.
