1859 Low 9 Any Thing Else I Should Look For On It?

okiecoiner Pillar of the Community Canada 5591 Posts	Posted 07/03/2021 7:22 pm Now Coins and Canada or some dealers may say that a "low 9" is worth a premium over a regular one, but it really isn't. The last digit on all the working dies was hand-punched into the dies. Because of that, manual striking by hand, there are highs, lows, rights, left, rotated CW & CCW. with over 100 Reverse dies used, there are probably 10-20 that are some gradient of "low". It's worth the same as a normal '59 and VF-20 wear-wise, but there's some corrosion starting and some odd toning. Keep it as an anomaly but you won't get rich off it. Report this Post to the Staff

It is hard to tell, but I think PC59-47 (Obverse 23 + Reverse E25b) is likely. Compare to the photos in the Haxby catalog that Wade gave the link for and you can probably confirm it.
