Finally got myself a 1981-S Type 2 LMC (Clear 'S')

I thought I had one for a long time now, but I finally got my microscope working on a new computer and it told me that they were not - but Now I have one.

Congrats. Is that an impaired proof? I don't remember if it is safe to use acetone on proof coins or not,but that coin looks like it could use it. Just sayin'

Not sure if it is impaired. It does look funny though. Not sure what is going on with it. Maybe someone has an idea.
Acetone bath on proofs? Not sure what will happen to the surface. I have a few proofs that have no home, maybe I'll soak one and see what happened. I I'll get some before pictures, then after pics.

Nice coin! Maybe this is a dumb question but is that line down the back of Lincoln a normal attribute of a proof strike?

Try another proof coin to experiment on first. No use of ruining coin just to make it look better. Proofs are more fragile.

That is a great observation, I'll go grab the coin and get some pictures of the area.

@Dear. I do not what to say. It is funny coin.

I look at the East rim on both sides has the same lines and dimension versus West like the shoulder has. If was MD must has others marks.

I think more of the firsts strikes, maybe 1 to 10 when the hammers and anvils still has the graving small borders.
