I came across this quarter today and it seems to have a lot going on with it. I'm sure some is due to PMD but I think there's more to it than that, I'm just not sure what. What stood out the most is the flags. The one with the "lump" on top and the stripes in the American flag looks different than any other one I have. I couldn't find anything to compare it against on Wexler's, VV, and NGC Coins. I was going to include more pictures but didn't want to overdo it.

Thanks for looking.

I see a nice die chip on top of the right-most flag. The rough surface in the fields might be partly due to flow lines from a tired die.

Die wear always flows to the outside of the coin. Note on the devices facing the outside edge, you can see this going on. Whether die flow lines of design moving towards the same area, always the rim. Die wear is just starting on your coin. It gets much worse before the die is retired.

Note the metal distortion on these devices, form die wear.

The devices are spreading, but when the die was fresh, it was a normal die. But it still get worse:

Note the devices get wider as they move towards the rim because of the distortion of the die.

But can it get even worse?

All of this is happening on the dies. The fact is that all dies age and continue to go down hill until they are retired.
These are not coin issues, but a die issue.

I agree, a tired die and a nice die chip! Very good photography for someone new to this, coin photography isn't easy, so good job!
